Blake Bryson Publishing (BBP) was founded in 2012 by journalist and publisher Richard Bryson, and businessman James Blake, to produce high quality publications for a variety of clients

Richard Bryson

BBP’s director and editor Richard Bryson is a highly experienced, award-winning East Anglian-based journalist. A former Emap journalist of the year he worked on several regional weekly newspapers to deputy editor level before becoming design editor of the East Anglian Daily Times. He launched their successful weekend supplement in the late 90s (it was twice shortlisted among national daily titles in the British Newspaper Design Awards weekend supplement of the year). More recently he launched a men’s lifestyle title for the Archant publishing group and for seven years was editor of the glossy monthly magazine EADT Suffolk, taking it to record sales in 2010 and introducing bi-annual food and drink supplements, as well as launching its food and drink awards.

For two and half years he was freelance editor of Suffolk Norfolk Life magazine.

Based near Bury St Edmunds he is currently editor of Bury & West Suffolk magazine and a range of high quality marketing magazines.

Karen Bryson

BBP’s Sales Director

Karen Bryson is BBP’s sales director responsible for selling advertising on the company’s marketing magazines and brochures and also the newly launched Bury & West Suffolk magazine. A highly experienced salesperson Karen worked on the Johnston Press publication Etc and was a key member of the Bury Free Press’s property sales team for several years.

A mother of three her interests include horse riding, walking and travel.

Joanne Greenhalgh

BBP’s Finance Administrator

BBP’s finance administrator Joanne Greenhalgh has had a varied career in business administration and accounts across industries including manufacturing, television production, IT and investment banking.

Voluntary work includes editing an A5 parenting newsletter and running a pre-school. Originally from Lancashire, she moved to Suffolk from London in 1992 after falling for the area as a result of finding a property magazine on a Central Line tube train! She has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East and personal interests include scuba diving, photography and yoga.

Maggi Digby has worked in the magazine industry for 17 years working for various publications before becoming advertising manager for Suffolk Magazine - a publication she helped to launch in 2000.
Maggi has considerable experience in marketing and promotion with contacts throughout the region.

James Blake

James Blake Associates

BBP’s chairman James Blake also runs JBA Consultancy Services Ltd, a consultancy of landscape architects, arboriculturists and ecologists based in the quintessentially English village of Lavenham. He was landscape officer for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets before moving with his wife to set up home and new businesses in Suffolk. Through JBA he has set up OASIS – to manage open spaces for developers – and more recently he invented a low-cost public seat – the Smart Seat – which is now in full-time production. With Richard Bryson he set up BBP (Blake Bryson Publishing) in 2011.
